iPhone: Getting to inbox zero is one of those challenges many try and few accomplish. Even though the best email apps provide us with features to help, without a good methodology we can't weed out the clutter. Mailbox integrates a fantastic process into its feature set so natural interaction with your inbox helps you clear it out.
Mailbox claims to "put email in its place" and that's exactly what it does. With a few simple gestures (mainly swiping left and right), you can archive and delete emails as well as have them show back up in your inbox at some point in the indefinite future or sort them into a to-do list (e.g. read this, buy this, etc.). Adding this simple approach to your mailbox actually makes it incredibly easy to swipe your way down to zero. I approached the app with some skepticism, but quickly found myself managing and eliminating my emails with very little time and effort.
If you want to give Mailbox a try, you can do so for free. The downside is that you have to sit on a waiting list for awhile. Generally we do not post about software you can't get immediately, but this is not only too useful to ignore but something you'll want to sign up for now so you don't have to wait quite so long. While the waiting list may move slowly in the beginning, the developers intend to let more and more people in at a rapid pace as soon as possible. Also, you can see your position in the reservation queue from within the app so you have a better idea of when your invite will come. If you've got an iPhone, it's worth the wait and won't cost you a thing so go check it out now.
