Expanding Team to Oversee Strategic Developments in Hawai?i

The Howard Hughes Corporation (NYSE: HHC) today announced the promotion of Nicholas (Nick) D. Vanderboom to Senior Vice President of Development. In this role, Vanderboom and his team will continue to focus on key strategic developments in Hawai?i, including the transformation of the 60-acre Ward Centers to Ward Village and the recently announced luxury condominiums, ONE Ala Moana. Michael Yee, Doug Johnstone and Race Randle were hired in 2012 to join the development team in Hawai?i, and are already furthering the company?s efforts.

In his new role, Vanderboom is relocating to Honolulu to solely focus on overseeing strategic development in Hawai?i, having most recently served as Vice President of Development. Prior to joining the company in 2010, he served as Vice President of Development for TPMC California. He worked as an independent real estate consultant, where he spent the majority of his time working for Forest City Enterprises on mixed-use development projects in California, Nevada, Texas and Hawai?i. He also worked at Allan D. Kotin & Associates, a Los Angeles-based real estate consulting firm specializing in public-private joint ventures.?

Vanderboom earned a Master of Real Estate Development in 2007 from the University of Southern California and received his undergraduate degree in Business from USC in 2006. He was also a tight end on USC?s football team, winning two national championships and five Pac?10 championships.

?Nick epitomizes the dedication we seek within our development team,? said David R. Weinreb, Chief Executive Officer of The Howard Hughes Corporation. ?His impact within our organization is already apparent given his passion and drive, and in partnership with Dave Striph, our senior operations executive in Hawai?i, he will continue to create and execute a compelling vision for our developments in Hawai?i.?

As a Development Director, Yee serves as Project Manager for the ONE Ala Moana project joint venture with The MacNaughton Group and Kobayashi Group. Born and raised in Hawai?i, Yee was previously a Project Manager on the Walt Disney Parks & Resorts? Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in West O?ahu.?

As a Development Manager, Johnstone will manage various projects within the Ward Village master plan. Johnstone most recently worked for Kamehameha Schools where he helped reposition a wide variety of residential and retail assets on O?ahu.

In Randle?s role as Development Director, he will oversee projects within the Ward Village master plan. Most recently he worked with Forest City Hawai?i where he managed a number of efforts, including the development of Kamakana Village at Keahuolu, a 2,330-acre master planned, mixed-use and mixed-income affordable community in Kona. He also previously worked with Castle & Cooke Hawai?i.

?We are committed to Hawai?i for the long term and are excited to be building our local development team that will deliver on our mission to create timeless places in Hawai?i that are ideal for residents and visitors alike,? said David Striph, Senior Vice President for The Howard Hughes Corporation. ?Nick?s passion and drive will ensure that we continue to create a compelling vision for our projects and the development experience of Michael, Race and Doug will prove invaluable as we work to bring our plans to fruition.?

The Howard Hughes Corporation currently owns three properties in Hawai?i: ONE Ala Moana, Ward Centers and ranch land in Maui. ONE Ala Moana, the world class condominiums above Ala Moana Center which offer an ultra-luxury lifestyle to local and international residents, recently sold out. In October 2012, Howard Hughes - the largest private land owner in the Kaka?ako district - unveiled a vision for Ward Centers to become Ward Village. The 9.3 million square-foot, mixed-use development will reshape the area into a dynamic, urban master planned community, with more than 4,000 residential units and over one million square feet of upscale retail and other commercial space.
